Marmer Cake, Marble Cake? You Name It.

Hi, everybody! I'm back after a loooonnnggg hibernation. Well, I'm back with easy and delicious recipe. One slice is never enough. Yap, basically it's butter cake, but because it has two tones they call it 'marmer cake or marble cake', some also call it 'zebra cake' if you make it in a round shape. This recipe can create a delicious butter cake. Me and my mom like it so much. We tried not to use baking powder and it works well, like the child hood cake that I uses to eat. *Baking powder makes the cake a bit taller and lighter in texture.*

So, no more chit chatting. Here's the recipe. You can use any kind or any shape of mould as long as it's not too big. 18cm or 22cm works well with this recipe. Just double it if you wanna make it bigger and taller.

Ps: I got this recipe from a home baker in instagram. She is @chenniezchang . Go check her instagram acc and you'll find many delicious recipes. Unfortunately, almost all of her recipes are written in Bahasa Indonesia because many of her readers are Indonesian.

Marmer Cake

Ingredients:
3 egg whites + 1 tbsp Caster Sugar
1/2 tsp salt
150 gr Butter
200 gr Caster Sugar (I use 170gr)
3 egg yolks
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
150 gr All Purpose Flour
1 tsp Baking Powder
2 tbsp Milk
4 tsp Cocoa Powder
2 tbsp Warm Water

Instruction:
*Butter and flour the mould first)
1. Mix flour and baking powder, set aside.
2. In a clean bowl, beat egg whites until foamy, then add 1 tbsp sugar and salt. Beat them until soft peak.
3. Use the same mixer (it is okay if there's still some egg white sticking on your mixer attachment), beat the butter and sugar until soft and fluffy. Then, beat in vanilla extract for a while.
4. Lower the speed of the mixer, beat in the egg yolks one by one until combine.
5. Still in lower speed, pour in the flour, mix until combined. Last, add in milk, mix until incorporated.
6. Using your spatula, fold 1 scoop egg white mixture to the egg yolk mixture. Then, pour all egg white mixture to the egg yolk mixture, stir using folding method until incorporated.
7. Mix cocoa powder with warm water until becoming cocoa paste.
8. Take 1/3 the mixture into separate bowl, then add in the cocoa paste, stir until combined.
9. Pour 2 tbsp of white mixture to the buttered and floured loaf tin, then add 1 tsp chocolate mixture on it. Alternate them until finished. *Be creative and create your own design.*
10. Bake in the preheated oven for about 40 to 45 minutes or until cooked (toothpick comes out clean) at 180°C / 200°C. Reduce the heat if the cake starts to crack. (It's good to know your oven's characteristic).
11. Once it's done, put it on wire rack for about 10 minutes. Then, take it out from the pan and continue to the cooling process on wire rack. Enjoy!
